$20,000 stolen in Elk County ID theft; half returned…$1400 checks stolen in Ridgway….Injuries reported in three-car pile-up…Flying tree branch smashes truck windshield in Saturday storm…..16 year old arrested for indecent assault on school bus in Gaines Township…

Elk County

An ID theft in Elk County is under investigation by state police at Ridgway. Troopers explain $20,000 was taken from a Crime App belonging to a 25 year old Kersey man last Wednesday. At the time the victim contacted authorities, $10,000 of the lost funds had been disputed and returned to the victim with further charges pending.

Troopers at Ridgway are probing the theft of a $1400 check belonging to the Area Transportation Authority earlier this year. The check was taken from the Transportation Center in Ridgway on February  24.

One driver and a passenger were hurt in a three vehicle collision Friday evening on the Ridgway Johnsonburg  Road in Ridgway Township. State police say the pile-up  occurred when 19 year old Eli Major of Bradford was traveling south on Route 219 and allowed his 2007 Buick Lacrosse to drift into the opposite lane where it struck a 2016 Kia Soul driven by Kirsten Alanskas  of Reynoldsville causing it to roll into a ditch then collide head-on with a Ford Escape driven by Colleen Wilber of Smethport. Major and Wilber were taken to Penn Highlands Elk for treatment of their injuries. Passenger Lisa Laird also of Reynoldsville was also  hurt.

An unnamed driver escaped injury Saturday afternoon during a severe windstorm on Route 555 in Benezette Township. Troopers reported a branch broke off due to the wind and shattered the windshield on a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver was able to bring the truck to a controlled stop. Due to the storm conditions, the pickup was towed from the scene but  the accident was technically a “non-reportable.”

Potter County

A 16 year old Galeton boy has been arrested for indecent assault for an incident allegedly taking place on a school bus between  3:00 pm and 4:30 pm February 16 while the bus

was traveling on Route 6 in Gaines Township. The youth is being charged through Tioga County Juvenile Probation Department with unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault and harassment. The alleged victim is an 8 year old girl.

Minor injuries were reported for an elderly Bradford driver following a one-vehicle accident Thursday in Stewardson Township. State police at Coudersport report 72 year old James Panighetti was going south on Pine Hill Road when his 2023 Toyota RAV slid off of  the slippery road on a left curve, hit a ditch and overturned.

McKean County

Another elderly Bradford driver suffered minor injuries in a collision  last Tuesday in Keating Township. According to Lewis Run State police, 84 year old Lettie Torrey was trying to pull from  Route 59 onto Route 646 and hit the passenger side front on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler driven by Kacie Willover of Cuba, NY.Willover was not hurt.

DUI charges have been filed against a 20 year old Smethport man who was pulled over by state police on Route 446 just before 10:00 pm March 16.

No details were released but troopers at Lewis Run arrested a 42 year Bradford man for harassment  for an incident during the early morning of March 15 on the Big Shanty Road in Lafayette Township. A 37 year old Lewis Run woman is said to be the victim.

State police at Lewis Run are investigating three separate cases of indecent assault, including at least one involving minor. No more information was released by troopers.

An investigation into an alleged assault on Route 6 in Keating Township last Wednesday. The suspect is a 26 year old  Olean man and the victim is a 30 year Roulette man.

Tioga County

A theft in Knoxville in early March has been resolved. A 39 year old Wesfield  man was arrested for stealing a bicycle owned by a 33 year Knoxville man on March 9. The bike was later located and returned to the owner.

A Nelson, PA resident has been arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Cops say51 year old Scott Stewart was observed obstructing traffic and was the subject over several calls over a couple of days.

A 16 year old Wellsboro boy was arrested on a theft charge by state police at Mansfield. Authorities allege the youth tried to steal a ZTE Cell phone from the Goodwill store in Charleston Township Saturday afternoon. The phone is valued at $50.
