Potter County
The state police fire marshal and Potter County Coroner’s office are investigating a house fire occurring Wednesday afternoon on Route 872 south of Coudersport. Several area departments assisted Coudersport emergency services at the scene. We will bring you details when they become available to us.
A Coudersport man has been arrested for DUI for a one-vehicle crash occurring last month in Eulalia Township. State police say Ross Bliss was going east on Route 49 back on October 21 when his Toyota Tundra became disabled after it failed to make a right hand curve, struck a ditch and a tree. Bliss was also arrested for driving an unregistered vehicle.
McKean County
McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that on November 16, 2022, charges were filed in regards to a Kane man’s death earlier this year on Pine Street in Kane. Trooper Eric Thompson charged 28 year old Paul MCMAHON, currently of the McKean County Jail, with Drug Delivery Resulting in death, Involuntary Manslaughter, 3 counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, 3 counts Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, and Reckless Endangering Another Person. The complaint alleges that, on 05/06/2022, a 35 year old male was found unresponsive at 10 Pine Street and was pronounced deceased. Members from Kane Volunteer Fire Department, Kane Borough Police Department, Emergy Care Ambulance and the McKean County District Attorney responded to the scene. The complaint alleges that the investigation showed communication between McMahon and the victim regarding the sale of drugs to the victim three times between May 4 and May 6, including the last delivery to the victim shortly before his death. The cause of death was rule fentanyl toxicity. MCMAHON was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Engman who set bail at $1 million. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 28 at Magisterial District Judge David Engman’s court in Kane. MCMAHON remains incarcerated.
Justin Nichols, 33 of Rixford has been jailed in lieu of $350,000 bail on felony sexual assault charges. State police claim Nichols committed numerous crimes but no further details were released.
We have reported on numerous thefts of catalytic converters in Potter and Tioga Counties, and now a similar theft is being investigated in McKean County. A catalytic converter was stolen from a school bus parked in the bus parking lot on Main Street in Eldred between 5:00 pm November 4 and 5:00 am November 7. The equipment, belonging to Todd Motor Sales, is valued at $1200. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 814.368.9230.
Minor injuries were reported for a teenage passenger following a three-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon during the snow storm in Keating Township. State police explained Lisa Bailey of Smethport was driving a GMC Acadia and due to slippery road conditions ran into the back of a Ford Explorer driven by Donna Austin of Smethport which then hit the rear-end of a Ford Escape driven by Laura Elliott of Port Allegany. All three drivers were unhurt but a 14 year old girl in Austin’s SUV was taken to UPMC Cole for treatment of minor injuries.
No injuries were reported for a Kane driver following a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon in Hamilton Township. According to state police, Amanda Lindquist was going west on the Wetmore Road when she became distracted by a back seat passenger and allowed her Ford Explorer to cross the road and strike a guardrail.
Both drivers escaped injury in a collision on Route 646 in Keating Township on November 9. State police say the collision occurred when 83 year old Frances Williams of Cyclone tried to enter the northbound lane after stopping and pulled in front of a Jeep Patriot driven by Chelsey Parris of Smethport.
No injuries occurred when a Johnsonburg woman’s GMC Terrain rolled over on Route 219 in Lafayette Township Sunday morning.
An elderly Kane woman escaped injury when an item fell off of a red tractor trailer hauling a flatbed while headed south on Route 6 just after 1:00 pm November 9. The rig was traveling north but it is not known which way the semi went after reaching the Lantz Corners intersection. Mary Vantin.75 was driving a 2019 Subaru Forester north on Route 6 at the time.
An elderly Cyclone man was slightly hurt in a one-vehicle mishap Tuesday afternoon in Keating Township. State police report 77 year old Harvey Schuster lost control of his 2011 Buick Lucerne while headed south on Route 646. The vehicle went off the road and hit a stump before stopping.
Drug possession charges have been filed against 37 year old Jeffrey Parulski who was stopped by patrol officers on Main Street in Eldred November 6 and allegedly found in possession of a controlled substance.
DUI charges have been filed against a 24 year old Pittsburgh, PA man who was pulled over by troopers on Forman Street in Bradford just after 1:00 am November 6. Police claim the suspect, whose name was not released was driving his 2006 Nissan Altima under the influence of alcohol.
State police at Lewis Run have also charged a 56 year old Franklinville NY driver with DUI after stopping him on East Main Street in Bradford early last Friday morning. Troopers claim the unnamed driver was driving a 2014 Jeep under the influence of alcohol and was in possession of a controlled substance.
Troopers at Lewis Run did not release the name of a driver whose pick up truck hit a bear on Route 46 in Keating Township November 7. Since there were no human injuries and the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado could be driven from the scene.
Both 35 year old Port Allegany residents involved in a squabble have been cited for physical harassment. Troopers claim when they investigated a domestic incident on Park Lane Drive early Wednesday morning they determined both the male and female suspects were involved.
