McKean County
Both drivers escaped injury in a collision last Friday morning in Hamlin Township. State police said the collision occurred when Alan Chapman going east on Route 6 and failed to stop for Shawn Stankus who was trying to make a right turn into a private drive. The Stankus Ford F350 and Chapman’s Nissan Pathfinder could be driven from the scene.
No injuries were reported for two drivers involved in a collision Saturday afternoon in Keating Township. According to state police the collision occurred when a westbound Ford Escape driven by Raymond Eckert of Port Allegany hit a Saturn Sky driven by Kathryn Moyer of Wellsville which was turning onto Route 6 from Route 46. Both drivers were using seatbelts.
Troopers at Lewis Run are looking for a white box truck which sideswiped a pick up truck on the McCrea Brook Bridge in Eldred Township Saturday morning. A westbound truck crossed the centerline and damaged the driver’s side mirror on a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Marlin Moyer of Eldred. The truck continued on without stopping. Neither Moyer nor his passenger Makaila Brown of Smethport were hurt.
State police at Lewis Run are investigating two burglaries occurring between July 15 and 18 on Route 321 in Wetmore Township. The buildings are owned by a 62 year old Butler, PA man and a 70 year old Sharpsville man. Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call state police at 814.368.9230.
Two inmates at the McKean County Jail are facing simple harassment charges following an altercation at the lockup last Wednesday morning. Troopers say the investigation is continuing.
A 32 year old Smethport man is facing drug possession charges after state police found him walking on the wrong side of High Street in Bradford moments after 10 pm August 1. Troopers claim they found the suspect, whose name they are withholding, was impaired and was in possession of a controlled substance.
Tioga County
Mansfield based state police are investigating the theft of three more catalytic convertors. The equipment was ripped from three different vehicles parked at a camp on East Creek Road in Covington Township in mid July. The camp and vehicles are owned by a Marysville man. Several catalytic converters have been stolen in Tioga County this summer.
Potter County
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announces that its Potter County Maintenance Division is closing Route 1001 (Brookland Road) between Marvin Hill and A Frame Road in Sweden Township, Potter County, and implementing a detour on Monday, August 22. Maintenance crews are closing the road to replace a trio of storm
water drainage pipes to improve drainage and ride quality.
While the detour is in place, traffic will follow Route 6 and Route 449. It is a daylight closure where crews will lift the detour at the close of each workday. PennDOT expects the replacements to take about a week, but all work is weather and schedule dependent.
PennDOT’s Potter County Maintenance Division will complete all work associated with this project.
