Region
The region’s jobless rate increased in four out of five counties with one holding steady between May and June according to the state Labor Department. Cameron County held steady at 5.4%. Potter County saw an increase from 5.5% to 5.9%; McKean went up from 4.8% to 5.1%; Tioga went up slightly from 4.7% to 4,8% and Elk saw an increasefrom4.8% to 5.1%. Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate for the period was 4.5% and the country’s rate was 3.6%. Cumberland County had the best rate at 3.0% but that was an increase from 2.9%. Forest County had the worst rate at 6.2% but that was an uptick from 6.8%.
McKean County
DUI charges are pending against an unidentified 24 year old Duke Center man following a one-vehicle crash on the night of July 29. State police said when they investigated a motor vehicle crash on the Oil Valley Road they found the driver to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
A 31 year old Cyclone man is facing a physical harassment charge for a domestic assault allegedly taking place Tuesday afternoon in Keating Township. The incident took place on the East Valley Road and a 25 year old Port Allegany woman is listed as the victim.
Physical harassment charges are also being filed against 34 year old Jesse Poe of Lewis Run for an attack allegedly taking place Tuesday night on Beech Court in Lewis Run. Police claim Poe hit a Lewis Run woman during an argument.
The investigation is continuing into a reported indecent assault taking place in Keating Township Saturday morning. McKean County Children and Youth Services received a Childline report that a juvenile brother had inappropriately touched his sister over her clothes.
Tioga County
State police at Mansfield arrested a 69 year old Wellsboro man whose identity they did not release with physical harassment for an incident allegedly taking place early Wednesday morning on Heise Run Road Delmar Township. The victim is said to be a 51 year old Wellsboro woman.
