Potter County

A medical condition is blamed for a one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Harrison Township. State police said David House of Troupsburg was going east on Route 49 when his Dodge Challenger went off the right side of the road and struck a guard rail. The car rolled over twice before coming to rest over an embankment. House declined treatment for his minor injuries.

McKean County

A 62 year old Kane man was scammed out of $325 on July 2. A criminal called the victim claiming to be a representative of a utility company and informed the victim his account balance was overdue and if not satisfied, the service would be disconnected. The victim paid the bogus account via a Green Dot gift card. Authorities again warn citizens to use caution when providing confidential information or money over the phone.

A Warren motorcyclist was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment of injuries he received in an accident Saturday afternoon in Wetmore  Township. Troopers report Ronald Sweet was headed north when his Harley-Davidson went out of control after hitting a ditch.

A Bradford driver escaped injury Friday morning in a car/deer collision in Lafayette Township. According state police Daniel Reinhart was going west on the West Warren Road when his Dodge Caravan hit the whitetail.

Two McKean County men have been cited for disorderly conduct by state police at Lewis Run. A 36 year old Cyclone resident and a 63 year old Smethport resident are accused of shooting  guns towards occupied  homes on Route 59 in Keating Township at around 7:30 pm last Thursday. Police withheld the suspect’s names.

State police at Lewis Run arrested 24 year old Stephan Roller of Rixford for criminal mischief. Troopers claim Roller damaged siding on a building owned by a 54 year old Smethport man on the Bordell Road in Keating Township on the night of June 30.

DUI charges are pending against a 30 year old Lewis Run man by state police at Lewis Run. Troopers pulled the suspect over on Route 219 in Bradford Township early June 30 for traffic violations and allegedly found the unnamed suspect was driving in Jeep Cherokee under the influence of alcohol.

Elk County

An ATM theft is being investigated by state police at Ridgway. A thief withdrew funds belonging to a 56 year old Ridgway man in early June.

State police at Ridgway arrested a 61 year old  St. Marys man for DUI after stopping his 1965 Chevrolet on Water Street Extension Sunday evening for a traffic violation. The driver’s name was withheld.

 Tioga County

A Wellsboro woman was the victim of an on-line theft. April Roy,41 told police she tried to buy a camper on EBAY but after transferring approximately $1200 in EBAY prepaid gift cards, she realized she had been scammed.

Motorists are advised that a portion of Route 1010 (Austinville Road) is closed in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, for pipe replacement and embankment repair. On Wednesday, July 13 through Tuesday, July 19, Austinville Road will be closed between John C Road (T-938) and Hulslander (T-555), while a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintenance crew performs road repairs.

Work includes pipe replacement and repair of an embankment failure. A detour using Sanitarium Hill Road (T-553) and John C Road be in place while work is being performed. Work will be performed between the hours of 6:30 AM and 1:30 PM, weather permitting. Motorists should be alert, slow down, watch for slow or stopped traffic, and drive with caution.

Motorists are also advised that a bridge replacement project is under way on Route 249 near Little Marsh in Chatham Township, Tioga County. Route 249 is now  closed approximately 5 miles southeast of the intersection with Route 49 and approximately 1.5 miles northwest of the intersection with Route 4012 (Short Hill Road), while a contractor begins this accelerated schedule construction project.Motorists can expect the road to be closed for 25 calendar days with a detour using Route 4017 (Locey Creek Road) in Middlebury Township and Route 49 in Osceola Township.HRI, Inc., is the prime contractor for this $575,000 project on Route 249. This project includes removal of existing bridge, construction of and placement of precast reinforced concrete box culvert over an unnamed tributary to Crooked Creek, rock placement, paving, guide rail, pavement markings, and other related work.
