State police at Lewis Run are continuing to investigate an incident taking place a few minutes after 2:00 am Friday on East Mill Street in Port Allegany. A PSP patrol officer came upon a man lying in the travel lane. The man, whose identity has not been released was subsequently struck by the patrol car and injured. The victim who was flown to an out of the area hospital.
A 35 year old Salamanca, NY man was committed to the McKean County jail in lieu of $20,000 straight bail after being arraigned on assault causing in bodily injury to a 44 year old Salamanca woman early Saturday morning on East Main Street in Bradford. Troopers say while on routine patrol they observed the unnamed suspect standing over a woman lying in the street and punching her. The suspect took off on foot but was taken into custody.
Elk County
Another ID theft is being investigated by state police Ridgway. Someone unsuccessfully used theidentities of a Ridgway couple Friday afternoon.
Tioga County
A Tioga County mother has been exonerated of child abuse charges. Tioga County Children and Youth Services notified state police that a 3 year old Elmira girl had been spanked by the woman’s boyfriend which resulted in bruising on the child’s buttocks. The investigation revealed the spanking had been done by the mother as a form of discipline for the youngster’s behavior.
Mansfield based state police have arrested 49 year old Patrick Huey of Mansfield for burglary. Huey is accused of entering a house on Route 6 in Charleston Township owned by a 52 year old Blossburg woman between May 11 and 13 and stealing $500. Huey caused $300 in damage to a back window while breaking in. Huey was later found and has since been charged.
A Corning, NY man is being charged for criminal trespass for an incident taking place last Thursday on Buckwheat Hollow Road in Lawrence Township, Tioga County. State police claim an elderly couple was awakened by someone pounding on the front door of their house but saw no one and there was no one at the back door but when the 78 year old man walked back into his living room, he found Walmsley standing there, holding a broom. He fell asleep on the couch before cops arrived.
A Blossburg man was arrested by Mansfield state police for trespass. Andrew Deming is accused of knocking on and slamming the front door of a house at 146 North Williamson Road in Blossburg at around 7:30 Saturday morning and yelling at the victim who had previously messaged Deming telling he to stay off the property.
Troopers at Mansfield investigated an ID theft taking place between May 20 and 27 in Richmond Township. James Walker of Mansfield told authorities he had received paperwork for an unemployment claim in the mail but he is not unemployed and is still working,
The theft of a car in Jackson Township Lycoming County is under investigation by state police at Mansfield. Melissa Spencer of Liberty told police her black Chrysler 200 broke down on Route 15 overnight May 15 and when she went to retrieve the car, it was missing. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Mansfield or Montoursville.
A Blossburg driver escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident Friday evening on the Old Bloss Road in Hamilton Township. Sheridan McHenry was going east when the steering system on his 2003 VW jetta failed, went off the road and struck a tree.
Both drivers escaped injury in an equipment related mishap Friday morning in Covington Township, Tioga County. According to state police, James Weaver of Roaring Branch was headed south on the North Williamson Road when the rear driver’s side tire came off of his GMC Sierra and rolled into a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Lawrence Tama of Blossburg. Both units were towed from the scene.
Troopers at Mansfield did not release the name of a DUI suspect involved in a one-vehicle crash on the evening of May 7 on Route 49 in Westfield Township. Police determined the man was on his cell phone and showed signs of impairment when interviewed. He allegedly admitted to police he had been drinking alcohol prior to the crash. He consented to a blood draw and was taken to Williamsport General Hospital for treatment of head and neck injuries.
A Covington teen driver has been cited for speeding after his 2002 Chevrolet S-10 rolled over one time down an embankment on the Alexander Highway in Liberty Township Sunday morning. The 17 year old driver was not hurt.
Troopers at Mansfield are looking for a hit and run vehicle. The unknown unit, while westbound on Route 660 went off the road and hit a mailbox. The driver left the scene without reporting the damage.
A criminal mischief taking place last Wednesday evening on South Main Street in Richmond Township is being probed by state police at Mansfield. When a 64 year old Middlebury Center woman returned to her 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander she found the driver’s side door had been dented to the extent it could not be opened all the way. The SUV had been parked there from noon to 7:00 pm. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 570.662.2151.
A possible harassment among several children over the phone remains under investigation by Tioga County authorities. One juvenile reportedly told another of plans to shoot the potential victim.
