Pennsylvania’s primary election is today. Polls are open until 8:00 pm. While there is an effort to open Pennsylvania’s primary, only registered Republicans and Democrats can vote in their party’s primary today. Pennsylvania is considered a pivotal state in the upcoming mid-term elections. The crowded field of GOP US senatorial candidates has narrowed to 7. Kathy Barnette, Mehmet Oz and David McCormick are in a dead heat for the nomination. The other candidates are George Bochetto, Jeff Bartos and Carla Sands. Democrats looking for their party’s nomination are font runner John Fetterman followed by Alex Khalil, Conor Lamb and Malcolm Kenyatta. Eight Republicans are seeking nomination for governor. They are Lou Barletta, Douglas Mastriano , Nche Zama, Dave White, Bill McSwain, Charlie Gerow and Joe Gale. Josh Shapiro is the lone Democratic candidate for governor. Nine Republicans are seeking nomination for Lt. Governor, they are Clarice Schillinger, James Earl Jones, Rich Saccone, John Brown, Chris Frye, Jeff Coleman, Russ Diamond, Carrie Lewis Delrosso and Teddy Daniels. Three Democrats, Austin Davis, Ray Sosa and Brian Sims are looking to become the nominee for Lt. Governor.
A Knoxville driver escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash last Monday in Lawrenceville. State police at Mansfield report William Humbert was going east on Cowanesque Street when his Jeep Compass veered off the right side of the road for unknown reasons, hit a struck a fire hydrant, speed limit sign and concrete sidewalk before stopping.
State police at Mansfield have charged a Covington driver with speeding for a crash in Liberty Township April 28. Troopers said Kevin Rumsey over compensated on a right hand curve while going west on Route 414. His Dodge Ram became disabled when it hit an embankment with the front passenger side. Rumsey escaped injury.
