Potter County
Several area volunteer firefighters battled a two-alarm barn fire at the Riss-Dale Farm on Route 49 in Allegany Township early Sunday morning. Dairymen from the area and across the state helped to move 180 dairy cows. No further details were available.
An ID theft is being investigated by state police at Coudersport. Someone used personal information belonging to Jeffrey Franke of Couderpsort at Pilot Travel Center in Las Vegas. NV last Tuesday.
State police claim a Roulette driver was speeding before a one-vehicle crash Friday morning in Eulalia Township, Potter County. Michael Knauer was released after being treated for minor injuries at UPMC Cole following the wreck of his Chevrolet V10 on Route 6 near West McClatchie Road .
Elk County
The theft of a motor vehicle in Elk County is being investigated by state police at Ridgway. A 2010 Red Mazda 6 speed owned by a 30 year old Brockway man was taken from 29 Playground Road between 9:00 pm Wednesday and 7:00 am Thursday. After investigation, police found the car was involved in a hit and run on North Pancoast Road in Washington Township, Jefferson County. Anyone with information is asked to call sate police at 814.776.6136.
Cameron County
An Emporium driver escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Gibson Township. Troopers report Emmanuel Patricio was going north on Wykoff Run Road near the Quehanna Highway when his Mitsubishi Eclipse went off the road on a right hand curve and ended up on an embankment.
McKean County
A Cyclone motorist was arrested after a chase taking place on Route 646 in Keating Township, McKean County last Thursday night. State police allege when they tried to stop a 2006 Ford van driven by 48 year old Francis Cramer he led them on a pursuit traveling at speeds of 80-90 miles per hour and passing multiple vehicles. Cramer was taken into custody after pulling into his driveway and is facing charges of driving under the influence of d drugs
Troopers at Lewis Run are investigating an ID theft occurring last Thursday in Keating Township, McKean County. Someone used the identity of 70 year old Smethport resident to fraudulently open a financial account in his name.
Statewide
The 106th Pennsylvania Farm Show is underway at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. This year’s theme is “Harvesting More.”
After an all-virtual show in 2021, the event returns to its traditional in-person format but will also continue some of the virtual experiences that allowed Pennsylvanians to participate in the Farm Show in new ways.
The food court will continue to be a popular destination with new offerings including pierogies, shredded portabella mushrooms, veggie burgers and corn dogs, beef jerky snacks and more. New things to do include a canine spectacular, Bethlehem’s National Museum of Industrial History, a “So You Wanna Be a Farmer” section and an Urban Gardening feature.
Admission to the show is free, but parking is $15 per vehicle. Shuttle service is provided.
The 2022 Pennsylvania Farm Show has named Sons of Dunn, Coudersport, the 2022 Best Collective Pure Maple Products Exhibitor and the Premier Exhibitor of Maple Syrup. In order to compete for these titles they had to submit entries for 13 different competitions including syrup, candy, sugar, cream, baked goods, other uses, and an individual educational display. Their Grade A Dark also received a 1st place blue ribbon in the half gallon competition against all grades.
