A Lewis Run man was arrested by state police at Lewis Run on assault charges. State police claim36 year old David Persichini injured a 40 year old Lewis Run woman by throwing her on the ground Christmas afternoon.

Tioga County

Both drivers escaped injury in a collision involving a semi and passenger car Friday afternoon in Sullivan Township Tioga County. According to Mansfield based state police the accident occurred when  a Peterbilt operated by Andrew Byers of Altoona who was going north on Aumick Road crossed the center line prior to turning right into a well pad site. Michael Giantisco of Mansfield who was headed south was unable to stop in time and to avoid a head-on collision swerved his Volkswagen Passat off the road. The car was damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

Elk County

DUI charges are being filed against 49 year old Ridgway resident David Alaskey. Troopers allege when they stopped his 2019 Ford Ranger on the Million Dollar Highway Sunday at around 9:30 am they found he was driving the pickup under the influence of drugs.

Cameron County

Cameron County Maintenance crews will restrict Route 4004 (Rich Valley Road) in Shippen Township, Cameron County, to a single lane early this week. The lane restriction will remain in place until crews can address a slide issue in the spring of 2022.

The westbound lane heading away from Emporium will be closed for 250 feet, and the closure is approximately 4.5 miles from the intersection with Route 46. The sign foreman will place stop signs at both ends of the closure as soon as weather permits, at which time drivers will begin taking turns passing through the area via the open lane.

PennDOT will issue updates as needed and prior to the start of repair work in the spring of 2022

Statewide

In order for agriculture to continue as one of the foundations of the state’s economy, farmers and farms must be effectively supported. Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) announces that the agriculture Linked (AgriLink) Investment Program, which provides low-interest loans to qualified farmers and farms, reactivated Monday.

According to the Department of Agriculture, an eligible farmer is any person, individual, partnership, corporation or legal entity who has legal and financial responsibility for an agricultural operation and is engaged in the management of the agricultural operation. An eligible farm must have developed an approved Act 38 nutrient management plan, a manure management plan, agricultural erosion and sedimentation plan or other approved federal or state conservation program or best management practices (BMPs). BMPs include crop rotation, barnyard and feedlot runoff abatement, and soil or manure testing.

The amount of the loan is based on costs submitted by the farmer for an approved project. However, a loan may not exceed $250,000 and 12 years, may be structured as a construction loan, and the interest rate could fluctuate to account for the subsidy and current market interest rate.

The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Treasury, in collaboration with the State Conservation Commission.

The PA Department of Health has updated Covid-19 information for counties in the Black Forest Broadcasting Service Area as of noon Monday, December 27, 2021.
