Without releasing a name, Coudersport based state police arrested a person suspected of shoplifting at Reed’s Market on Main Street in Genesee Monday morning.

Drug possession charges are being filed against 19 year old Gavin Soule of Genesee. Troopers claim when they stopped his 2002 Chevrolet on the Hickox Road on the evening of August 6 they found he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Shane Bogsch, 20, of Coudersport has also been arrested on drug charges. Troopers claim when they stopped his 2005 Jeep Liberty on North Main Street Coudersport during the evening of August 4, they found he was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

State police at Lewis Run have filed DUI charges against a 58 year old Buffalo man who was pulled over for a traffic violation on Route 219 in Lafayette Township Wednesday night. Police did not release the suspect’s name but say he was driving at 2012Volkswagen Jetta.

A Cyclone man has been charged for cruelty to animals. Troopers arrested the 39 year old suspect after being called to Shady Nook Circle in Lafayette Township Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported for a Ridgway woman after a one-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Fox Township, Elk County. State police report Tiffany Dyne was going west on the Old Kersey Road just after 3:00 am when her 2004 Ford Escape failed to make a right curve,  fish tailed into the eastbound lane, struck an embankment and rolled over onto its roof.

 

Pennsylvania State Police are charging a couple of their own. Pennsylvania State Trooper Nickolas Elliott was issued a citation this week for a summary offense of harassment. The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) filed the charge following an investigation by the Bureau of Integrity and Professional Standards, Internal Affairs Division.The charge is based on an allegation of unwarranted use of force. PSP does not tolerate such action in any situation and takes these allegations seriously. As such and in accordance with 18 Pa.C.S. §2709(a)(1), a non-traffic summary charge of harassment was filed in District Court 33-3-02.

Trooper Elliott enlisted in the PSP in October 2016 and graduated as a member of the 148th cadet class. He is assigned to the patrol section of Troop D, Kittanning. Trooper Elliott has been suspended without pay pending resolution of the criminal charge against him.

Earlier this month,Pennsylvania State Trooper Jamhal Simon was arrested today for crimes related to forgery and tampering with records. The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) filed the charges following an investigation by the Bureau of Integrity and Professional Standards, Internal Affairs Division.

Trooper Simon is accused of altering military orders he received as a member of the Ohio Air National Guard and forging the signature of a non-commissioned officer.

The following misdemeanor charges were filed in District Court 35-3-02:

Forgery, 18 Pa. C.S. §4101(a)(1)

Tampering with records or identification, 18 Pa. C.S. §4104(a)

PSP notified his military chain of command.

Trooper Simon enlisted in the PSP in March 2015 and graduated as a member of the 142nd cadet class. He is assigned to the patrol section of Troop D, Mercer. Trooper Simon is currently suspended without pay pending resolution of the criminal charges against him.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed that as of 12:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, there were 5,489 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 1,397,755.
