Authorities investigate police impersonators in Potter County…..Litter pick up this week in Tioga County….State positivity rate now 6.9%….
Troopers at Coudersport are investigating three cases of police impersonations. L:ate last Monday night, a 16 year old girl told police she was driving near the intersection of Route 449 and Gazdag road at around 10:30 pm when she noticed a maroon or red sedan with a red and blue light bar on the inside front windshield parked on the Gazdag Road. The vehicle’s four ways were activated as the teen drove past. The impersonators activated the red and blue light bar and stopped the victim. As the suspects walked toward her car, the victim realized they were not police officers and fled the scene. She told police the suspects were white males with black zip up hoodies with their hoods over their heads. One of them was described as being older with a salt and pepper beard. The suspects followed the victim for a short distance.
Then, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Coudersport-based state police investigated a report of two individuals impersonating a public servant on Route 244 through Oswayo Borough. According to the report, the suspect vehicle was described as a White Mercury Grand Marquis with a black front push bar and long, blue and white, light bar inside the windshield. The suspect vehicle followed a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old female onto Brizzie Hollow Road and then Pierce Hill Road, where they activated their light bar stopping the female driver.
According to the victim, the suspects exited their vehicle and began walking to her vehicle. Upon realizing the suspects were not legitimate police officer’s the victim fled.
The victim described the suspects to police as two white males wearing brown sweatshirts with their hoods up over their heads, and dark-colored jeans.
The police report emphasized that this is the third occurrence PSP Coudersport is investigating regarding impersonating a public servant and the suspects and suspect vehicles are very similar in the reported instances. Shinglehouse Borough Police reported, a woman told them at around 11am March 30 she was walking in the area of Academy and South Street when a white male driving a small, dark blue or black sedan pulled up beside her and told her to walk on the sidewalk. Then he continued to follow her onto South Pleasant Street and told her she also needed to be wearing a mask because it was a state law. During the communication the fake police officer told the woman he was a was a police officer. He never got out of the vehicle and drove away. He was described as being 5’ 5” to 5’9” inches tall approximately 30 years old, heavyset with dark hair, mustache wearing a Navy sweatshirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap. The Shinglehouse Police Department was unable to identify a white male that was seen leaving Honeoye Haven located at 215 North Union Street and around 5pm on Tuesday March 30. He’s described as being approximately 5’9” tall in his late 20s to mid 30s, heavyset with dark hair, mustache and sunglasses He was wearing a black shirt, with “police” on the back and the leather shoulder straps holding a walkie talkie. That person was driving a dark blue Chevy Cavalier in the early 2000 era with Pennsylvania license plate and possibly with a dash mounted emergency light. There is no report of any crime committed at Honeoye Haven, but police would like to speak to the man or
State police offered the following recommendation in the case someone is being stopped and is not sure if it is actually a police officer:
— Activate your four ways.
— Call 911 and inform them that you are being stopped and inquire if it is actually a police officer.
— If you do not have service to call 911, drive to a well lit area and/or a public location where other people would be present.
PSP Coudersport is asking the public for assistance in locating the suspects and the suspect vehicle. Anyone who has any information regarding the above incidents are asked to call PSP Coudersport at 814-274-8690.
An Olney, MD driver was arrested by state police at Ridgway for Drug possession. The suspect, whose name was not released was pulled over on Boot Jack Road last Wednesday afternoon for a traffic violation and troopers claim when they talked to the driver, the odor of pot was emanating from the 2015 Honda Civic. A consent search reportedly yielded marijuana in the trunk.
In an effort to improve the environment and clean up our local roadways, PennDOT maintenance crews in Tioga county will pick up litter this week on Routes 15, 6, 49, 287, and 362.
Crews will be picking up litter during daylight hours, weather permitting.
There will be no impacts to traffic during litter cleanup activities. Motorists are reminded to slow down, drive with caution, be alert for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, and watch for workers near the roadway, along interchanges and entrance/exit ramps.

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa.—Halie M. Little, 22, of Port Allegany, formerly of Austin, passed away unexpectedly at UPMC Cole, Coudersport, on Thursday, August 26, 2021.
Born on Wednesday, September 16, 1998 in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Douglas G. and Carey J. Kinard Little.
Halie was a graduate of Austin High School, Class of 2017 and was currently attending Northern Pennsylvania Regional College for early childhood education.
A hard worker, Halie was previously employed by UPMC Cole in Coudersport as a CNA and at the Keating Summit Hotel in Keating Summit.. At the time of her passing, she was employed as an assistant teacher for Northern Tier Headstart Program in Port Allegany.
She enjoyed hunting and fishing. Halie loved camping, gardening, shopping, and her dogs. She also loved building her farm, including raising her many chickens. Her greatest loves were her family, her beloved Tristan, the children she helped teach and the elderly she care for at the hospital.
Her care for all was all encompassing in her life as it was also at her passing, as Halie was graciously an organ donor.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents of Austin; the love of her life, Tristan P. Evens of Port Allegany; a sister, Racheal A. (Tod Streich) Glover of St. Marys; her nephew, Wesson Streich, who she loved, adored, and spoiled; her maternal grandparents, Janice and Art Albright of Dallastown; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Halie was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Dave and Connie Bock; and her maternal grandfather, Greg Kinard.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Halie at the Keating Summit Hotel, 9839 PA 155, Austin, Pa., from 3pm to 8pm on Thursday, September 2, 2021. At 6:30pm, Halie’s uncle, the Rev. Donald R. Caskey, co-pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Coudersport, will lead a time of sharing. Please bring your memories to share.
