An identity theft is being probed by state police at Coudersport. Someone opened an unemployment claim in the name of 72 year old Blair Schupe of Austin earlier this month.
A tangible theft is also under state police investigation. Thieves removed 40 to 50 barn boards from the exterior walls on a barn owned by Joan Welfling of Lock Haven. The boards are valued at $600.00.Anyone with information is encouraged to call state police at 814-274-8690.
Mansfield based state police are investigating the theft of a wallet belonging to an elderly Tioga County resident. The black vinyl wallet owned by a 94 year old Knoxville man is valued at $20 and contained an EBT card and about $69 in cash.
A Ridgway teen escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident Friday night on the Ridgway/St. Marys in Ridgway. State police said the teen driver fell asleep at the wheel of his 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The car hit a guardrail, crossed the center line and collided with a guard rail on that side of the highway. The driver was using a seatbelt at the time.
State Parks Director John Hallas has announced the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has extended the due date for the Solicitation for Proposals to operate a downhill ski and four-season recreation center at Denton Hill State Park in Potter County.
The previous due date was Wednesday, June 9. Now, proposals must be received in a sealed envelope no later than Friday, July 9.
DCNR will begin reviewing proposals on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.
Denton Hill State Park is located along Route 6 in Ulysses Township, Potter County, in the Pennsylvania Wilds.

Interested parties are strongly encouraged to make arrangements to visit Denton Hill State Park to ascertain the condition of the facility by contacting the Bureau of State Parks regional office at 814-486-3365.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed that as of 12:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, there were 277 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 1,209,725.

There are 465 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 114 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per continues to drop, after peaking at 2,661 patients which is slightly below what it was at the height of the spring 2020 peak of 2,751 patients on May 3, 2020. Statewide percent positivity for the week of June 4 – June 10 stood at 1.9%.
