McKean County

State police at Lewis Run have arrested four suspects in connection to a shooting taking place at around 9am back on October 4 in Eldred. Dan Roach of Bradford has been charged with a discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, aggravated assault, possession of firearm prohibited, possession of a firearm with manufacturing number altered, terroristic threats, criminal use of a communications facility,  reckless endangerment of another person. Douglas Walczk of Girard, PA  has been arrested for conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to sell non controlled substance as a controlled substance, conspiracy to manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy to commit theft.  Anthony Reynolds of Erie has been charged with simple assault, harassment, conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to sell non controlled substance as a controlled substance, conspiracy to manufacture delivery or possession with intent to deliver,  conspiracy to commit theft. And Brittany Mitchell is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to sell non controlled substance as a controlled substance, conspiracy to manufacture deliver or possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy to commit theft and criminal use of a communication facility. The shooting took place at apartments located on Cris drive   The suspects fled the scene  prior to State Police arriving back on October 4. The case is still being investigated.

Elk County

Ridgway  based State Police are looking for a hit and run vehicle in connection to an accident occurring last Wednesday on the Wilcox Road in Jones Township, Elk County. Ice  flew off an unknown vehicle and smashed the windshield on a Chevy Cobalt by Donna Sorg of Ridgway. She was unhurt but the windshield was shattered. It’s believed that the offending vehicle was a white work van.

Potter County

Coudersport based State Police report  a Millerton Pennsylvania driver escaped injury in  a one vehicle crash last Thursday on Phoenix Run Road in Hector Township. John Wales was going south when two deer came down  onto the road from an embankment  in front of his Toyota Rav 4.. One of them ran into the side of the SUV.  After striking the deer the vehicle went about 30 feet before colliding with a snow bank where it came to rest .

Two people have been charged with physical harassment for an incident allegedly taking place last Monday during Patrick Potter County State police say when they were called to a house in Sharon Township. They interviewed both  28 year old Keane Hampshire, of Nunda New York and 29 year old Cheyanne Koontz of Shinglehouse and determined that an argument  escalated into physical contact between the two.  Now  both face charges in District Court.

An  ID theft is being investigated by State Police at Coudersport. Someone used information about 48 year old Willis Shadle  of Galeton  to withdraw $10,548 in unemployment benefits using the victim’s name and Social Security, apparently was discovered on February 9.

A  Shinglehouse  man is being charged with arson of a vehicle on the afternoon of January 29 at 602 Dodge Road in Sharon Township. Police claim that 64 year old Roberto Diaz intentionally set fire to a vehicle belonging to Leo  Carpenter of Bradford.  Diaz is facing charges of reckless burning of a motor vehicle,  criminal mischief,  and dangerous burning . Diaz and 58 year old Janet Healy were arrested after State Police went to their home at 602 Dodge Road in Sharon township for an unrelated incident on February 5. During the investigation, police said there  were indicators of criminal drug activity. And they were found allegedly to be in possession of controlled substances and related paraphernalia.  Charges for that case for filed in District Court. Then, a couple days later, on February 9, the pair was arrested again on drug possession charges . When police arrived with a warrant they allegedly found drug activity at that location. A second set of charges against both suspects were filed in District Court.

Cameron County

State Police at Emporium are investigating a criminal mischief taking place at 314 Market Road  in Shippen  Township between 4pm February 16 at 6am February 17. Someone stole a mailbox belonging to 77 year old Penelope Reid of Emporium . Anyone with information is asked to contact the Emporium barracks 814.486.3321.

Tioga County

A Tioga  Pennsylvania driver has been warned about speeding, following a one vehicle crash last Thursday, just after 8am in Tioga Township Tioga  County, Robert Kifferl  was going west when  his Chevy Blazer went out of control on the icy highway, spun off the left side of the road and rolled onto the passenger side before hitting a tree with its roof on Mann Hill Road.

Penn College will offer a Practical Nursing course this fall. This full-time clock hour program will start September 20, 2021 and students will graduate in the fall of 2022. Classroom instruction in theory and nursing skills is provided by qualified nursing instructors in Wellsboro and Coudersport. Graduates earn a certificate in Practical Nursing and are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam for licensure (LPN). Graduates find jobs in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, private homes, physician offices, and other health-related offices.

Statewide

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of 12:00 a.m., February 20, that there were 2,818 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 911,591. . Here in the Black Forest Broadcasting service area McKean  County has 2274 cases; Tioga, 2150; Elk 1219; Potter 804 and Cameron,  173.  Across the border in New York State Cattaraugus County has 4281 cases and Allegany County 2839 confirmed cases.

There are 2,061 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 441 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per day is about 3,500 lower than it was at the peak on December 25, 2020. The current 14-day average is just below what it was at the height of the spring peak on May 3, 2020.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of February 12 – February 18 stood at 6.5% which was a substantial decrease from the previous week.

As of 11:59 p.m., Friday, February 19, there were 90 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, for a total of 23,570 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Pennsylvania hospitals began receiving shipments of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine the week of Dec. 14 and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine the week of Dec. 21. Please note that this does include vaccine administration through the CVS and Walgreens as part of the Federal Pharmacy Partnership. Vaccination numbers for Pennsylvania does not include Philadelphia, which is its own jurisdiction, or federal facilities, which are working directly with the federal government. · This week, a total of 326,850 doses will have been allocated through February 20:  183,575 first doses will have been allocated this week. ·         To date, of the 2,766,400 doses allocated through February 20, 1,931,557 doses  have been administered total through February 19:  Mask-wearing is required in all Pennsylvania businesses, and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

There are 107,257 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 637 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.

There are 3,815,778, individuals who have tested negative to date.

In licensed nursing and personal care homes, there are 65,992 resident cases of COVID-19, and 12,816 cases among employees, for a total of 78,808 at 1,565 distinct facilities in all 67 counties.

Approximately 24,419 of the  total cases are among health care workers.
