The region’s unemployment picture improved between October and November according to the state Department of Labor and Industry. Potter County saw a decrease from 5.8% to 5.4%; McKean County realized an improvement from 5.8 to 5.1% Cameron County’s rate went down from 6.6 to 6.1% Tioga county’s rate dropped from 5.9% to 5.3% and Elk went down from 6.0% to 5.2%.Chester County had the best rate at 3.1% which was down from 3.4% and Philadelphia County had the worst rate at 6.8% but improved from 7.3%. Pennsylvania’s overall jobless rate for the period was 5.7% while the national figure was 4.2.
Troopers at Lewis Run are investigating a theft occurring in Johnsonburg on December 10. A suspect was allegedly found with a semi-trailer jack valued at $50 and a hydraulic hose valued $10 belonging to Domtar Corporation. No further details were revealed.
Another theft is being probed by state police at Lewis Run. Troopers released no details except to say the crime occurred December 21 on Pine Run Road in Lafayette Township.
A Limestone, NY man was arrested by troopers at Lewis Run for DUI after his Dodge Journey was stopped on Route 219 North in Bradford at around 11:30 Christmas Eve. Officers did not release the suspect’s name but claim he was discovered to have been driving the SUV under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for chemical testing and formal charges are pending results.
